In the early 1980’s, Northeast Solite^® Corporation began exploring possible uses of our products as beneficial to the horticultural industry. In 1982, a soil blend incorporating Solite^® was developed in partnership with the National Parks Service to enhance aeration, permeability, water retention and balance, and to reduce dead weight and compaction. This unique inert material is clean, free of insects, disease, weed seeds, odorless, and contains no toxic minerals that could be damaging to plant or animal life. Solite^® is ready to use when delivered, completely predictable, consistent, and stable over time. From this beginning 35 years ago, the application has evolved into Green Roof, Rooftop Gardens, and water filtration projects.
