Stadiums
Stadiums are the combination of design, engineering, and construction. They can utilize nearly all of the combinations and beneficial attributes of Solite® lightweight aggregate products in the stabilization of the soil, pre-cast components, long-span concrete on steel decking, and horticultural applications for green space and permeable parking lots.
Barclay's Center
Brooklyn, NY
Located in the heart of Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue, the $1 billion dollar Barclay Center is home to the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA and the New York Islanders of the NHL. The 18,000-seat arena is the centerpiece of the ongoing revitalization of Brooklyn, which did not have a professional sports team since the Dodgers moved to LA in 1957. The arena incorporates cast-in-place Solite® concrete and several thousand Solite® CMU’s for enhanced fire ratings and acoustic improvements.
Yankee Stadium
Bronx, NY
The new Yankee Stadium was completed in time for opening day of the 2009 baseball season. The new stadium was built just to the north of the venerable 1923 Yankee Stadium. The field of the old stadium remains as a park. The new stadium, clad in Indiana limestone, incorporates both precast Solite® elements and cast-in-place Solite® concrete in the seating areas. The new stadium was completed in three years at a cost of just over $2.3 billion.
Yankee Stadium
Bronx, NY
Most baseball fans consider the Old Yankee Stadium hallowed ground. Pictured on the left is the old stadium, the “House that Ruth built,” which opened in 1923. This is the most storied franchise and field with the most World Championships of any other professional team in American sport. This stadium became Heritage Field, a 10-acre park that is home to three youth sandlot diamonds, along with an adjoining track and soccer field. One of the ball fields is approximately where the old Yankee Stadium diamond was located. This is where Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggo, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Derek Jeter played.

Meadowlands Sport Complex
Secaucus, NJ
This $1.8 billion dollar stadium opened in 2010, after three and a half years of construction. It is home to both the New York Jets and the New York Giants, and has the unique feature of being able to change the color scheme from green for the Jets to blue for the Giants using a movable aluminum louver panel system. With a seating capacity of 82,500, the stadium incorporates Solite® concrete on steel deck for the seating area. Poor soil conditions at the site also required that a portion of Solite® aggregate be used in certain locations as a geofill material.
